The center frequency lights are what gives us the seven essential shades of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. Adjacent to these obvious lights there are the lights that can't be seen by the natural eye. These imperceptible lights can be gathered into two different gatherings the long waves and short waves. The principal gathering of waves is the more extended frequency of light including infrared and radio waves. Radio waves, the longest frequencies, interchange and can be unpredictable. Arthur C. Clarke said in the paper "The Light of Common Day" that since radio waves vacillate so much no creature has ever had the option to detect them. He proceeds to state that on the off chance that you had an eye sufficiently large to see radio waves your eyes would be a large number of times bigger than an ordinary eye. The following longest wave is the infrared light waves. Infrared light is utilized these days to find in the night. Uncommon goggles are intended to get infrared light creation it conceivable to see around evening time. The following gathering of light waves are the shorter influxes of bright and x-beams. Bright light, once in a while alluded to as UV, is directly close to violet and is simply past sight. UV light is the thing that causes burns from the sun and can be excruciating. In Arthur C. Clarks exposition it expresses that despite the fact that UV light isn't noticeable the retina of the natural eye responds capably to it. He contrast the natural eye with a camera and says that a decent camera need may kinds of focal points made out of various sorts of glass to take a decent picture. The natural eye has just a single focal point and can't conceivable see UV light. The last kind of light is the x-beam. The x-beam is the littlest wave and is utilized in the clinical field significantly to take pictures through tissue of bones. How to Navigate the Financial Side of Dating
How to Navigate the Financial Side of Dating How to Navigate the Financial Side of Dating How to Navigate the Financial Side of DatingMoneys difficult enough to deal with on your own. Add dating to the mix and youve got a whole host of potential headaches on the horizon.Dating is tough. And itâs been tough forever. Cave people never knew when a lovely, romantic evening would be interrupted by a rampaging woolly mammoth. An Aztec couple holding hands as they walked next to the waters of Tenochtitlan didnât know when their stroll would be interrupted by a rampaging conquistador. And good luck convincing anyone to get a cup of coffee with you when youâre suffering from the Plague. These days, dating isnât quite as deadly, but it still has its own set of issues to navigate. And one major vector of those issues is financial. Money can be awkward to talk about, even if itâs with someone youâve known for a very long time, let alone someone youâre meeting for the first few times. But fear not! Weâve got experts in both dating AND finances, and theyâre here to help ! Who pays for dinner?Weâll just get the most obvious question out of the way first. Who should pay for the meal?Almost a century of conventional dating wisdom maintained that the man would pay for the meal. But there are clearly a lot of reasons to reexamine this assumption. Most glaringly, there could be two men on the date. Or no men! Beyond that, this standard was set when the expectation was that men were the ones who worked and pulled a paycheck and women generally did not.Thankfully weâve made a lot of progress since that time, but it does mean you may have to consider some different approaches when it comes to the cost of the meal.âWhen going on a first date with someone, typically, the person who asked the other out should pay for the bill,â Holly Zink, a lifestyle expert for Kiwi Searches (@kiwisearches), told us. âHowever, if the tab is a lot, the check should be split. After the first couple of dates, you can alternate between who pays the bill. From a woman s perspective, its always a turn-on and chivalrous when a man at least offers to pay.âAnother contributor also offered a positive take on the traditional approach.âWhen youâre first dating, and the first date in particular, who pays can be about as awkward as it gets,â cautioned Vivek Jain, CPA, co-creator of new dating app LOKO (@LOKOforlove). âIâm old fashioned when it comes to this, so Iâm of the belief the man should always pay for the first dateâ"at least make that gestureâ"and if it leads to a conversation then who ultimately pays how much can be decided together.âThere may not be one approach that will work for any given two sets of people, but the most important thing is to communicate openly, especially if youâre hoping these early dates could grow into a relationship.âIf you find that you are wanting to enter into a long term relationship with one another, alternating paying the bill, or always splitting half and half can be something you discuss,â advised Justin Lavelle, Chief Communications Officer at BeenVerified.com (@BeenVerified). âThis issue is really best decided by the parties involved. Everyone is different, so it is important to set feelings and boundaries early and as they come.âMoney issues can persist past the first few dates.Katie Ziskind, therapist and owner of Wisdom Within Counseling, explained how these seemingly simple financial conflicts can actually reflect deeper financial anxieties a couple will have to reconcile if theyâre looking to stay together:âWhen I see couples in my therapy office, financial issues are a big topic. If one person in the couple makes more money, often this person will pay for dinners out at restaurants. This is often a couple that has been together long term.âHowever, even if this is agreed upon, the person who makes less money still has to process their money issues, shame about not making as much money, and the feelings about their childhood and how money was used in their family growing up.Money issues are rooted deeply back into childhood and often relate to how money was used as a privilege or a form of love. Some families use money to replace emotional connection, which leads to issues in romantic relationships as adults. If you grew up without having a lot of money, and now you have a great job, you may feel very proud to pay for yourself or for your date regardless of your gender.âTalking about the future.Communication only becomes more important as the relationship grows increasingly serious. Itâs good to start having these conversations early on, though it may be good to take a light touch.âYou can mention your future goals, and make implications about money, early on in the relationship without necessarily making it a conversation about money,â suggested Leslie H. Tayne Esq. (@LeslieHTayneEsq), Founder and Head Attorney at Tayne Law Group (@taynelawgroup).âFor example, you can mention that youâd like to settle down in a dif ferent state eventually. This is a general statement about your future goals but implies that youâd probably like to buy a house and will need to pay for the move.As the relationship progresses, conversations about future goals should become more explicit. Having differing goals for the future can be a major problem in a relationship and is something that should be addressed as early as possible.âBYOD.When you get into a relationship with someone, youâre also getting into a relationship with their debt. So itâs good to know what youâre both getting into at the start.âDebt can be a tricky subject when dating, particularly if one or both of you have a lot of it,â warned Tayne. âOnce again, honesty is the best policy, particularly if the relationship is on the path to being a serious one.You donât necessarily need to reveal your entire financial situation right away, but being upfront about the fact that you have debt will allow you and your partner to navigate the fi nancial aspects of your relationship.âGifts of a fun guy (or girl).Giving gifts can be an important part of both emerging and long-running relationships. But itâs also yet another area where financial awkwardness can rear its head.âWhen dating someone, that person will likely give you gifts,â Zink explained. âHowever, if these gifts are way too expensive or they are given too often, this is a money concern to address. To start, show your appreciation and gratitude for the gifts. Then, discuss with them some ground rules for gift giving, such as only giving gifts on holidays, birthdays, and other occasions.âMoving on in.If youâre together long enough, you may consider moving into the same place. As you could probably guess, this also comes with its own set of financial challenges.âLiving together presents even more financial possibilities,â warned Lavelle. âDoes one of you want the other or want yourself to be the established breadwinner? Are you both in agreement on one of you paying the lionâs share of the household expenses? If not, set up a reasonable budget that the two of you can afford while contributing equally. There are many ways to split up expenses, so be sure to communicate and be honest about both of your expectations and abilities. Maybe one of you makes significantly more and the other is struggling to pay half of everything. If this is the case, the one making less can try taking on one or two smaller bills instead of half of all of them.âFinding the right person would be difficult even if money werenât a factor. South Africa Holidays and Traditions - 739 Words
A lot of the holidays in South Africa came to be after Mandela and the ANC came into power. They decided to change them, making sure that they would mean something for everyone in the country, so that no one would feel left out and discriminated. Many of them were made to honor and remember the people who helped the country to where it is today, and who fought for a better future. Nelson Mandela did not want anyone to feel left out. One of those is Mandela day, obviously to celebrate the life and accomplishments of Nelson Mandela. Though it failed to actually become a national holiday, people still like to celebrate by doing something useful to their community for 67 minutes on the 18th of July, the day of Nelsonââ¬â¢s birth. The number 67â⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦They also celebrate by parades such as the world famous Cape Town Minstrel Carnival which can be compared to the New Yearââ¬â¢s parades celebrated across the globe, for example, the parades in New York. Another thing which can be compared to New York is that the beaches in South Africa are packed with people on New Yearââ¬â¢s eve, much like the streets, for example Times Square in New York. Christmas is also a big tradition in South Africa, and they celebrate just like other countries. They eat turkey, roast beef, pie and pudding (in particular the south african lekker pudding), exchange presents and go caroling. Though the food is a lot different than our meatballs, Jansson and ham, it is actually quite common food in, for example, USA. USA also eat this food on, besides christmas, Thanksgiving. The huge difference is that it is celebrated in the summer. They often eat out in the hot sun and instead of playing in the snow, they play games amongst the flowers. Then there are old traditions that has been around for ages. South Africa used to have nature religion until the colony period started and the dutch and the english brought in christianity. Even though most of the black people are christians, they still keep some of their old ways by making traditional dishes or killing and animal as a sacrifice when celebrating. Comparison of Meditations in Time of Civil War Free Essays
Yeats implies that ownership is futile as, with the inevitability of death, comes the inevitability that one day ownership will be lost when-as Yeats puts it-ââ¬Å"the [master is] rideâ⬠. The fact that ââ¬Å"mice can playââ¬â¢ once the ââ¬Å"masters buriedâ⬠brings together a new Idea of owning-or possessing-people and the Idea that through this ownership comes a hierarchy which leads to people being treated like ââ¬Å"miceâ⬠. The fact that they can now ââ¬Å"playâ⬠, now that the master has gone, Implies that the master oppressed them through his ownership of them. We will write a custom essay sample on Comparison of Meditations in Time of Civil War or any similar topic only for you Order Now However this section of the poem where the ââ¬Å"mice playâ⬠is linked to a previous section which talked of dreams. They are linked through rhyme. In the previous section, which starts ââ¬Å"Mere dreams, mere dreams! And continues until ââ¬Å"As if some marvelous empty sea-shell flungâ⬠, has the rhyming scheme A. B. A. B. A. The fact that Yeats has also given the section, that Includes the mice playing, the same rhyming scheme, Indicates that this Is a ââ¬Å"mere dreamâ⬠and that the ownership is still present and needs to be relinquished before they can play. Walcott in particular references the idea that-through the idea that one human owns another-the humanity and the rights of the owned human can be stripped away. This links to Walkoutââ¬â¢s main theme of the slave trade. The line ââ¬Å"some slave is rotting in this manorial lakeâ⬠shows this idea the best. By describing the lake as ââ¬Å"manorialâ⬠Walcott has linked the ownership of the lake to the death of the slave and thus Implements the owners In the Implied crime. This could lead to the desire to renounce ownership of the lake so as to escape the implementations associated with it. The line: ââ¬Å"protecting the great house/ from guiltâ⬠shows that with ownership comes the need for pride in possessions-also shown in the Yeats poem with the ââ¬Å"escutcheonââ¬â¢s oursâ⬠. However, Walcott also makes reference to the idea that the mice can play once the ââ¬Å"masters buriedâ⬠. Walcott has been described by critics as a ââ¬Å"poetry pirateâ⬠from other poets and uses them for his own purposes. This is the most obvious way Walcott challenges the idea of ownership. He takes these lines-such as ââ¬Å"Part of the continent, piece of the mainâ⬠- and uses them ironically for his own meaning. It is often ironic as the original meaning of the lines is normally the opposite of what Walcott uses them for. This contrasts to Yeats-who implied that the idea that the mice can play is a dream-as Walkoutââ¬â¢s ââ¬Ëpoetry piracy is an example of the mice playing. Indeed it links with the Yeats line: ââ¬Å"And maybe the great-grandson of that houseâ⬠¦ ââ¬Ës but a mouse. â⬠Walcott, a descendant of slaves, is this mouse and-by taking ownership of lines that others own-he is playing. This shows how the shackles of ownership, set upon the slaves in Walkoutââ¬â¢s poem, have been relinquished by the inevitability of the loss of ownership and by ââ¬Å"the leprosy of empire. â⬠How to cite Comparison of Meditations in Time of Civil War, Essays

Principals of Marketing free essay sample
Suppliers Suppliers provide businesses with the materials they need to carry out their business activities. A suppliers behaviour will directly impact the business it supplies. For example if a supplier provides a poor service this could increase timescales or product quality. An increase in raw material prices will affect an organizations Marketing Mix strategy and may even force price increases. Close supplier relationships are an effective way to remain competitive and secure quality products. Shareholders As organizations require investment to grow, they may decide to raise money by floating on the stock market i. e. move from private to public ownership. The introduction of public shareholders brings new pressures as public shareholders want a return from the money they have invested in the company. Shareholder pressure to increase profits will affect organizational strategy. Relationships with shareholders need to be managed carefully as rapid short term increases in profit could detrimentally affect the long term success of the business. Media Positive media attention can ââ¬Å"makeâ⬠an organization (or its products) and negative media attention can ââ¬Å"breakâ⬠an organization. Organizations need to manage the media so that the media help promote the positive things about the organization and reduce the impact of a negative event on their reputation. Some organizations will even employ public relations (PR) consultants to help them manage a particular event or incident. Consumer television programmes with a wide and more direct audience can also have a very powerful impact on the success of an organization. Some businesses recognize this and will change their reaction when consumers mention that they are going to contact a consumer television programme or the newspapers about the business. Competitors The name of the game in marketing is differentiation. Can the organization offer benefits that are better than those offered by competitors? Does the business have a unique selling point (USP)? Competitor analysis and monitoring is crucial if an organization is to maintain or improve its position within the market. If a business is unaware of its competitors activities they will find it very difficult to ââ¬Å"beatâ⬠their competitors. The market can move very quickly for example through a change in trading conditions, consumer behaviour or technological developments. As a business it is important to examine competitors responses to these changes so that you can maximize the impact of your response. Conclusion Businesses cannot always control micro environment factors but they should endeavour to manage them along with Macro Environment and Internal Environment factors. MACRO ENVIRONMENT A macro environment comprises the external factors that can influence a business. These factors are often out of the control or management ability of a company. Factors typically include economic, demographic, political, and technological forces in business. Economic environment The economic trends identify trends such as changes in personal disposable income, interest rates, inflation and unemployment rates. Business owners and managers often spend copious amount of time and effort to assess the overall economic environment in order to determine the number and strength of each factor. Strategies and performance reviews can help owners and managers use the macro environment factors to create a competitive advantage for their respective companies. Supply and demand General economic factors in the macro environment can include supply and demand, number of competitors in the market, availability of economic resources, and efficient production methods employed by companies. Each of these factors impact a companyââ¬â¢s production output and potential profit margins when selling goods and services to consumers. Free market economies often have more competition because more individuals and businesses can avail themselves to the raw materials, labor, and facilities in the market. Demographics Demographics relates to information about the consumers in an economic market. This information includes statistics on consumer age, sex, race, religion, education, household size, marital status, and other similar information. Companies use this information to create products and marketing strategies to meet the needs of each consumer in the macro environment. This information also plays a role into general economic factors. Companies must be able to determine consumer supply and demand by measuring consumer income and the desire to spend money on various goods and services. Demographic Trends identify trends in population growth at relevant ages for your industry (There may be zero population growth in general but high growth in the number of people over 65), the population location. Political Trends This identifies changes in the position politicians take on issues. A current example is a shift towards greener policies in the developed world. Technological Trends: The macro technological environment analysis will identify changes in the application of technology. A current example is a shift towards online transactions and in some areas a shift away from online transactions. Legal Trends The macro legal environment analysis is closely linked to the political environment (politicians tend to make the laws), but also includes trends in court decisions ââ¬â such as liability compensation. Social/Cultural Trends The macro social/cultural environment analysis will identify trends in societyââ¬â¢s beliefs, behaviors, values and norms such as the number of part time workers, attitudes towards global warming and makeup of the family structure.
